Raspberry Orange Mulled Wine

Blending fruit tea, fresh fruit, and a red wine, this mulled wine is perfect for a winter night.

Dating back to Roman times, mulled wine is a combination of wine and spices. Sangria, a combination of wine and fruit juices, originated in Spain. This fruity mulled wine combines the best of both!

Raspberry Orange Mulled Wine

The Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine

  • 2 cups cranberry-raspberry juice blend

  • 4 tsp fruit tea (I used Raspberry Cosmopolitan from here)

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1 tbsp whole cloves

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1 tsp all spice

  • Fresh Fruit: 1 orange (sliced), handful of raspberries

Other Supplies: large pot, decanter

Directions

  1. Steep 4tsp of fruit tea in 2 cups water for 8 minutes. Set aside.

  2. Combine wine, tea, juice, and spices in a large pot and bring to a boil.

  3. Reduce heat and gently simmer for 10 minutes

  4. Cool to warm.

  5. Put fresh fruit in decanter. I like this teacanter from Sipology because it will strain the spices and fruit tea from your wine for you!

  6. Pour warm wine mixture over fruit.

  7. Serve warm.

This fruit and spice infused wine can be stored in the refrigerator or frozen. If you store in the fridge, pour desired amount in mug and reheat in the microwave in 20 second bursts. You can also freeze it in an ice cube tray. Add the cubes to a meat marinade, spice up a glass of red wine with a cube of mulled wine, or melt them in microwave in 20 second bursts for a warm glass of mulled wine.
